In the midst of London’s annual celebration of LGBT rights, one rugby player involved in the parade took the chance to propose to his boyfriend. Footage captured the moment that Fernando Ferreira strides confidently up to his boyfriends and drops to one knee.

Fernando was taking part in the Pride procession with Kings Cross Steelers RFC, which was founded in 1995 as the first ever gay-inclusive rugby club. His team looks like they’re going to perform a line-out, but at the last moment, Fernando walks up confidently to his boyfriend in the crowd, Greg Woodford. He drops to one knee and the crowd, immediately realizes that he’s proposing. The couple then passionately kiss before Fernando puts a golden ring on Greg’s finger.

The joy of the moment seems to overwhelm both Fernando and Greg, who tear up as the crowd continues to cheer them. Towards the end of the video, Fernando’s rugby teammates finish their line-out and lift him and Greg onto their shoulder so they can share a glass of champagne. The video was posted on Kings Cross Steelers’ Facebook page with the caption, ‘He said yes! #LoveHappensHere #PrideInLondon’.

Jessica Rancie said, ‘I bawled my eyes out watching this Greg! Congratulations I’m so so happy for you.’ More than 26,000 people from 300 different groups took to the streets for London’s Pride, the biggest march in the event’s 45-year history.
